Water Filter Service and Repair in Lafayette, LA

Keep your system working as it should

Water treatment equipment needs regular attention: filters get changed, media wears out, softeners use salt, and parts occasionally fail. This is the service side of Acadiana Water Filtration, for homeowners in Lafayette and the surrounding Acadiana towns. If your water has changed, the free in-home water test is a good place to look first.

You might notice

  • A chlorine taste or smell that has crept back
  • Scale, spots or poor lather returning after a good stretch
  • Orange or rust staining reappearing
  • A softener that has run out of salt
  • Water that has become noticeably slower to come out of the taps

What gets changed, and why

Every treatment system has a part that does the work and wears out doing it. Sediment and carbon cartridges load up and need swapping. Filter media inside a tank loses its effect over time. A softener runs through salt. A reverse osmosis system has prefilters and a membrane. How often each one comes due depends on your water and how much you use, not on a number on a calendar. A service visit usually covers some mix of these:

  • Looking over the system and its bypass valve
  • Swapping spent cartridges or filter media
  • Topping off salt on a softener
  • Checking connections for leaks
  • Looking at what has changed in your water since the system went in

Signs it is time

Most people do not notice a system wearing out. They notice the old problem coming back: the chlorine taste returns, spots show up on glassware again, rust staining comes back to the tub, or the shower slows down. When that happens, a service visit usually finds a spent cartridge, tired media or an empty salt tank. Sometimes it finds a part that has failed, and that is a repair.

Repairs

Licensed plumbers from Hargrave's Plumbing handle repairs as well as changes. That covers valves, fittings, leaks at connections, and controls that are not cycling the way they should. A softener that never seems to use its salt, or one that runs through it far too fast, is worth a look, and so is a filter housing that weeps at the seal. Because plumbers do the work, a leak or a bad fitting is not something we have to hand off to someone else. Tell us what the system is doing, or not doing, and we will have a better idea of what to bring.

A system somebody else installed

If your system came from another installer or came with the house, call and ask whether we can service it. We cannot promise that from here, since it depends on the equipment, and it helps to know what you have. Tell us what is on the unit and what it is doing.

Questions

Maintenance and Repair: common questions

How often do filters and media need changing?

It depends on your water and how much you use. We would rather tell you what we see on your system than quote a general schedule that may not fit your house.

Do you service systems you did not install?

Call and ask. It depends on the equipment, and we would need to know what you have before saying yes.

Can I change my own filters?

Cartridge swaps are within reach for many homeowners, particularly with a bypass valve in place. Media changes, valves and repairs are better left to a plumber.

My water got worse. Is the system broken?

Maybe, but more often something is spent: a cartridge, the media or the salt. A service visit sorts out which, and the water test shows where your water stands now.
